The storeroom of an off licence converted into a compact single bedroom house tucked away in a concealed backland site. The single storey brick shell is to be brought up to modern standards of weatherproofing and insulation to enclose an open plan kitchen, dining and living space while a glass and aluminium cuboid is balanced on top to house a bedroom and to bring light down into the main space below. The glass type varies between translucent insulated double glazing and clear panels to provide both privacy and carefully controlled views out.
