Belgrave Road, Wanstead

A raised garden room that can be opened up full width, connecting the living room and kitchen with the garden. The projecting canopy shelters the external space and lends a visual continuity between inside and outside; a line of lavender at the edge of the projecting deck perfumes this new outdoor room.

For reasons of economy the roof structure was based on standard timber sizes as required for the cantilevered projection that hovers over the external raised deck. Internally the structure is left exposed where it coincides with the rooflight voids.
