Beresford Avenue, Richmond
A rear extension to a dignified white rendered 1930’s semi-detached house in a Richmond conservation area. The new large room (a robust construction of rendered masonry with a stone floor and a concrete fireplace) is an intermediate space between the formal dining room and kitchen and the lovingly tended garden. The proportions and fenestration of the large doors to the garden are derived from the first floor windows visible above the extension, and a long rooflight centred on the end door allows westerly light to be washed down the side wall of the new room.
