An existing disused basement is opened up and united with the garden through a sequence of timber terraces, concrete retaining walls and large aluminium framed sliding doors. A new glass and aluminium conservatory is a miniature house shape (mirroring of the form of the existing brick backrigger extension) brings light to the ground floor living room and a slatted wooden floor allows sunlight to percolate deeper into the basement plan.
