Room 13 Prototype

Room 13 is host to a growing international network of student run art studios located within schools: each one facilitates the work of young artists alongside a professional adult artist in residence. Our prototypical design is for a stand alone art room that can be configured as classroom, studio or exhibition space within an enclosure that can open out to embrace surrounding external areas. Even daylighting on the principal walls is provided by baffled clerestorey lights, while sunlit modeling is possible closer to glazed front façade.

Materials can be adjusted to suit the specifics of locale, but the intention is to use a tough external cladding (such as reused railway sleepers) over a rapidly assemebled timber frame construction and galvanised steel framed doors and windows.
